Description
Pincushions, poppets, and pinnies galore—secure your sewing
pins like never before! In DIY Pincushions, Beanbags, Paperweights, & Softies,
beginners and sewing masters alike will create an array of stylish pincushions
in a few easy steps—many of which can be done in just one afternoon! They’re
not only practical little sewing helpers when finished, but they’re also
teaching tools for those wanting to build their sewing and quilting skills. All
20 projects are made with approachable techniques, like pieced quilt blocks that
are embellished with decorative appliqué, stitching, buttons, blocked corners,
twisted pleats, pockets, and more. Some are shaped like traditional squares,
rectangles, and round pillows, while others are shaped like frogs, sailboats,
houses, roosters, and blooming flowers that can double as miniature stuffed softies,
paperweights, or even bean bags! Each project includes step-by-step
instructions and photos to help guide you through the simple process of
creating adorable pincushions. Author SusanClaire Mayfield encourages you to
use scraps from your fabric stash and be creative with your choices! No matter
what you choose, the result is a functional, unique pincushion you’ll use in your
workshop for years to come.

About the Author
SusanClaire Mayfield has been quilting since the seventies and was sewing as a child encouraged by her mum before then. When asked to teach at a local quilting store SusanClaire decided to prepare her own patterns for the class. The designs and patterns were popular, and quilters asked for more -- and so the pattern designing began. She has many designs now and her own studio in her home in the country, in New Zealand, and loves it! At one point in her journey, she prepared a Quilters version of a 3-course fabric meal with appropriate commentary and good humor -- and so the Gourmet Quilter. . .because quilting is delicious! was born. SusanClaire has developed the Gourmet Quilter theme since then and has exhibited in NZ, UK and now USA. She has presented and tutored and still finds time to design and make quilts. Her Quilting Studio is open to visitors by appointment, and you are made to feel most welcome
