Connelly (What's in Style: Window Treatments) has updated this best-selling guide on designing and furnishing rooms for children of all ages, making it even more comprehensive. As with most DIY decorating guides, this one covers the use of color, furniture selection and layout, and material choices for walls, windows, and flooring. But Connelly goes one step further, addressing how to incorporate the child's interests and safety. Each chapter concludes with a gallery of captioned photographs that highlight the advice given in the text. Especially useful is the chapter on designing for children with special needs; there is also a resource guide and a section devoted to bathrooms for children. With its practical advice and variety of decorating styles, this book would be a wise purchase for all public libraries.
